What is pet play? #

Pet play is a kink centered around those who embody the traits of an animal (“pets”) and the people who love them.

Are pets and furries the same? #

Pets can be furries (and furries can be pets), but pets and furries are not one and the same. Pets are humans that take on the traits of animals, while furries are “animals” that take on the traits of humans.

What’s RACK? #

“RACK” is an acronym for “Risk-Aware Consensual Kink,” which is an approach to kink that acknowledges that not all kink activities are 100% safe and aims to address this by encouraging all participants in a given scene or experience to know their risks and provide consent (if they so wish) with their risks in mind.

What is a PAH group? #

Starting with the acronym, “PAH” is shorthand for “Pets and Handlers.” A Pets and Handlers group is simply a group of pets, Handlers, and other assorted critters and humans interested in pet play. There are several PAH groups around the world, each with their own approach and level of formality.

How do I become a pup/kitty/etc.? #

Simply get on all fours (or whatever is applicable to the type of pet you want to be) and go for it! If you’re a pup, bark, pant, and chase the mail carrier! If you’re a kitty, groom yourself, knock things off tables and shelves, and treat yourself to a nice bowl of milk. It’s up to you how you want to express your pet side.

How do I become a Handler/Trainer? #

To get started as a Handler or Trainer in the pet play community, the best first steps are to get involved in the local pet play scene (look for a local PAH group or munches and moshes focused on pet play), make connections with pets, and make sure to always treat pets with respect (and respect their choice to engage or not engage).

The roles of Handler and Trainer are roles of immense trust, and should not be taken lightly. As a human companion to pets, Handlers and Trainers are meant to be level-headed and aware of concerns like the health, safety, and consent of those they work with.

Do I need gear to be a pup/kitty/etc.? #

No. Gear can be helpful for getting into the pet headspace or showing off your pet side, but it’s not required.

Is pet play inherently sexual? #

No. Pet play can be sexual for those who wish to bring pet play to the bedroom (or dungeon), but there are many who practice pet play without including sex. If you don’t want your practice of pet play to be sexual, then you don’t have to!
